[Archived news stories may contain broken links.] October 18, 1998Manga NewsYesterday was the 10th anniversary of the publication of the first 3x3 Eyes manga volume. Neat, huh? Go check out the newest manga translation from John Rong, who is working on volume 10. Thanks, John! The November issue of Afternoon magazine had Takada's Genzo Hitogata Kiwa on the cover, and the December issue will feature a new Genzo story as well. The Nov. mag also had a picture of the 3x3 Eyes 1999 calendar. It will be spiral-bound and actually looks easy to hang, a rare thing for anime calendars. According to the Oct. Animage, 3x3 Eyes #29 had the third best comic sales from 7/16 to 8/15. Genzo Hitogata Kiwa #1 was ranked fifth. According to Newtype's sales chart for all of August, 3x3 Eyes #29 was fifth, and Genzo didn't appear. Note that Animage and Newtype get their numbers from different sources. Finally, the Studio Proteus Fan Feedback page has some interesting speculation about a Dark Horse monthly manga anthology, possibly continuing the official 3x3 Eyes manga translations. Broken Link RepairI just finished going through the news archives and fixing all of the internal broken links, and adding a few long-lost pages as well. I also set up a script to automatically email me when a broken link is found. Hopefully your visit will now be more pleasant. (Please let me know if something is still broken!) Speaking of links, soon it will be possible to automatically add new links to the links page. There are a lot of new 3x3 Eyes pages appearing, and I am having trouble keeping up with all of them, so this should help. I hope to have the script set up sometime next month. Random BitsThe 3x3 Eyes Mailing List could be moving sometime soon, since Chae An (list maintainer) may be closing his best.com account. . . . Animania in Osaka is selling a set of all 7 used 3x3 Eyes LDs for about 14,800 yen; individual used LDs from the first series are going for 500 yen each. . . . JWP users should check out JWPce (oops, forgot to include the link originally). . . . It's nice to know that some people like my site enough to download the whole thing with Teleport Pro, but one of you needs to learn how to use the software; my site got over 1000 hits in one hour last month. . . . A new Southern All Stars album Sakura will be released on Oct. 21; SAS is the band that 3x3 Eyes is named after. . . . Fred Gallagher is up to something over at fredart.com Did I Mention I'm A Lazy Slacker?I'll get the Products pages online sometime soon. Go to the News Archives for an index of past updates. |
