November 19, 1999Manga Vol. 32 SalesYou may not be familiar with the name Oricon, but they are sort of the Billboard magazine of Japan. There are weekly Oricon rankings for the top-selling CDs, videos, and console games. They also rank comics, and you see their latest comic rankings (in English) on their web site. In the Nov. 8 rankings, 3x3 Eyes 32 entered at number 12. It has moved up to the 4th position in the Nov. 15 rankings. Genzo Hitogata Kiwa 2 also entered the chart this week at number 10. There is also a monthly top 30 ranking, available only in Japanese, and it will be interesting to see how well these two books do for the month of November. November 7, 1999Yuzo Takada ArtbookHidano Yukinori alerted me to this announcement on the Young Magazine web site. A new Yuzo Takada artbook will be published next January. Here is a rough translation of the web page announcement: Yuzo Takada artbook: The Last Order For those of you who were impressed by AiEN KiEN, the new book is looking even better. There is no word yet whether this book will be bilingual, though. It should be available through most anime importers next year. Winamp Skins UnlockedThanks go to Davin for explaining how to decompress the Winamp skins in the file archive. It seems the LZH files are compressed using a relatively new version of the software, but the files in the new tools directory can be used to unpack them correctly. The tools can be used with WinZip by including the path to lha32.exe in the Program Locations configuration window. Also, thanks to Vannie for submitting a new skin. The new file, compressed using the much less confusing ZIP format, has been added to the archive. Remember, too, that Enrico has some original Winamp skins at Il mondo di 3x3 Occhi!New Genzo Fan SiteI unveiled my Genzo Hitogata Kiwa site, Puppet's Heart, on October 29. Check it out for more information about this new manga title by Yuzo Takada. Since that site is now operational, I will not be mentioning Genzo news in these pages in the future. |
